Centre Grants Six-Month Extension to West Bengal DGP Siddh Nath Gupta The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a six-month extension in service for West Bengal DGP and IGP Siddh Nath Gupta, a 1992-batch IPS officer. The DGP tenure extended in public interest, ensures continuity in police leadership during the crucial election period. Gupta was originally scheduled to retire from service on April 30, 2026. However, he received his first six-month extension keeping him in office through October 2026. Most recently, on October 6, 2026, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved a second six-month service extension in the public interest.
