Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Saturday that all the problems in the world arise from a lack of a sense of belonging towards others. He said there was a need to develop the feeling that everyone is one of our own. Bhagwat was addressing a gathering at the silver jubilee celebrations of social service organisation Samarpan Foundation in Nagpur. He said a sense of belonging connects the entire world, helps identify its problems and also provides solutions to them. All the problems in the world arise from this lack of empathy. RSS chief recounted an incident from America Mohan Bhagwat referred to a recent conference trip he made to the United States. He shared the words of a speaker from Nigeria, who had said, “There will be no peace in the world until ‘I and mine’ come to an end.” Building on this point, Bhagwat said that a sense of belonging and brotherhood was essential. He said all problems were linked to the mindset of ‘I’ and ‘mine’. He said that every person was one of our own. We should wish for others to lead a good life in the same way that we wish it for ourselves. This is a distinct way of thinking and a particular disposition. Service is not for show The RSS chief said that human beings were compassionate by nature. That was why they had embraced the spirit of service. Service should not be performed for show. It should continue quietly and consistently. Recalling the Covid-19 pandemic, Bhagwat said he had sought details of service activities from RSS workers in Nagpur. He then learnt that 40 such activities had been carried out in two months. The Difference in Sensitivity Between Humans and Animals Bhagwat said that the only difference between humans and animals is sensitivity and compassion. Because humans are sensitive, they care about others. Humans do not think only about their own lives; they also care about the lives of others.
