Father kills minor daughter over love affair:Dumps her body into river, destroys evidence in Morena; body recovered by authorities after 5 days

In Morena, a father shot and killed his minor daughter because she loved a boy from another caste and wanted to marry him. He then threw her body into the Kwari river. Police began investigating after neighbors grew suspicious. During questioning, the father confessed to the murder. Following his confession, the police recovered the girl’s body on Sunday. A murder case has been registered, and the father has been sent to jail. The incident took place in Shivnagar, Morena. The accused’s name is Ravi alias Bantu Sikarwar. The daughter’s name was Divya. 17-year-old Divya was a 12th-grade student. Neighbor had called police to express suspicion
According to the police, a neighbor of Ravi Sikarwar called the Civil Police Station on Saturday. He informed that Ravi’s elder daughter Divya had been missing for two days. He also said that on Thursday, he had heard the sound of a gunshot and someone screaming from Ravi’s house. Following this, the police reached Ravi’s house. They interrogated him. During interrogation, the police found out that Ravi’s house had five members: his wife, two daughters, and one son. The elder daughter, Divya, was missing from home. When asked about her, Ravi gave evasive answers. The police’s suspicion deepened. The police brought Ravi to the police station on Saturday itself and began questioning him. Ravi told the police that Divya was in love with a boy from another caste and was adamant about marrying him. She was not listening even after being reasoned with. Around 9 PM on the night of September 23, an argument broke out between the father and daughter over this matter. In a fit of rage, Ravi shot Divya. Then, he tied her body in a sack and took it to his ancestral village, Bhagwan Singh Ka Pura, in Galetha Panchayat. Here, he tied stones to Divya’s body and threw it into the Kwari River. Following Ravi’s confession, the police reached the riverbank on Saturday itself, at the spot where he had thrown Divya’s body. A search was initiated in the water with the help of SDRF. As the body was not found until dark, the operation was halted. The search operation was resumed on Sunday morning. Divya’s body was found in the river around 10 am. According to the police, Ravi shot Divya in front of their younger daughter. Frightened by this, the younger daughter screamed, which the neighbors heard. When they asked Ravi about it, he said that a fan had fallen on Divya. Body sent for post-mortem
Additional SP Surendra Pratap Singh Dawar said – Divya’s body has been recovered. It has been sent for post-mortem. Ravi will be presented in court. ​
