Police arrested a Bangladeshi girl from a flat in Gwalior’s City Center Govindpuri area on Friday night. The girl, a resident of Dhaka, had come to India 8 months ago via Kolkata. A young man with her was also detained. Suspicious chats and foreign numbers were found on her mobile, and the investigation revealed she was brought to India for sex work. Police conducted late-night raid CSP University Hina Khan received a tip that a Bangladeshi girl was staying in a rented flat in Govindpuri, Gwalior. The police raided the flat late at night and found her with a young man. She failed to produce any identification, and the search confirmed her Bangladeshi nationality. Both were taken into custody and brought to the police station for further investigation. From Dhaka to Delhi, then Gwalior During interrogation, the young woman, a resident of Dhaka, stated she arrived in Gwalior eight months ago via Kolkata and Delhi. She confessed that Bangladeshi broker Anis Sheikh brought her to India and forced her into sex work. In Gwalior, she was in contact with a man named Rajendra and involved in immoral activities. Suspicious chats and mobile numbers found Police found several suspicious chats and foreign mobile numbers on the young woman’s mobile phone. This raises the suspicion that her network might be interstate or international. Police are also investigating whether the young woman had fake passports or other documents to enter India. Apprehension of more young women During interrogation, the young woman told the police that many other girls like her have been brought to India for sex work, and they are in different cities. Police are now trying to connect the dots of this entire network to determine if it is merely a case of sex work or if a larger gang is active behind it. Bangladeshi family apprehended previously Police are continuously apprehending Bangladeshi nationals in Gwalior. A month ago, an eight-member Bangladeshi family was caught from the Maharajpura area, who are currently kept in the police line’s detention center. ASP Vinita Dagar stated, A raid was conducted in the Govindpuri area based on information from an informant. The apprehended young woman turned out to be Bangladeshi and stated that she was brought to India for sex work. Currently, her interrogation is ongoing, and her network is being investigated.
