The Ministry of Jal Shakti is hosting the two day “Vision for Sujalam Bharat” Summit 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event which aims to accelerate India’s mission for water security, climate resilience, and sustainable water management.

The summit will bring together Central and State officials, technical experts, NGOs, community institutions and National Water Award winners to discuss policy priorities for the water sector. The agenda builds on insights from six national thematic workshops held earlier this year, covering river rejuvenation, greywater reuse, digital water technologies, groundwater recharge, drinking water sustainability, and community-driven water management.

Chhattisgarh has emerged as a frontrunner in the domain of water conservation and management, setting a benchmark for the entire nation. Under the guidance of Rajesh Sukumar Toppo, Secretary of the Water Resources Department, the state has achieved unparalleled success, particularly in the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari campaign initiated by the Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS). Chhattisgarh’s remarkable accomplishments in water conservation have drawn accolades from across the country, including recognition from Union Minister C.R. Patil.

Mr Rajesh Sukumar Toppo, an IAS officer of the 2005 batch from the Chhattisgarh cadre, has played a pivotal role in shaping the state’s water resource policies. His proactive approach, meticulous planning, and commitment to excellence have positioned Chhattisgarh as a model state in water conservation. With an acute understanding of the challenges and a strategic roadmap for solutions, he has transformed the water management landscape of the state.

More than 2,800 stakeholders contributed recommendations that form the core of the discussions at the summit. Key focus areas include strengthening source sustainability, improving groundwater recharge, scaling modern and nature-based solutions, and enhancing community participation.

The Sujalam Bharat Summit 2025 aims to drive integrated planning and collective action across the country, supporting India’s long-term vision of a cleaner, safer, and water-secure Bharat.
