Another major announcement of the 2025–26 budget fulfilled; Administrative approval of ₹46.49 crore granted In line with the vision of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, the state government has granted administrative approval of ₹46 crore 49 lakh 45 thousand for the construction of the proposed Integrated Food & Drug Testing Laboratory-cum-FDA Building in Nava Raipur. As per the provisions of the 2025–26 main budget, this major project will significantly strengthen food and drug testing capacity in the state. The government has provided 1.5 acres of land in Nava Raipur for setting up the new integrated laboratory and FDA building. Currently, the Raipur laboratory operates in an area of around 5,000 sq ft (ground, first, and second floors). The proposed new laboratory will house state-of-the-art equipment (drug and enforcement) and will be built over 30,000 sq ft (ground, first, second, and third floors). Major Increase in Testing Capacity With its establishment: Chemical testing capacity will increase from 500–800 samples/year to 7,000–8,000 samples/year. Microbiological testing (injections, eye drops, etc.) will reach 2,000 samples/year. Medical device testing (gloves, catheters, etc.), currently not conducted, will begin with 500 samples/year. Pharmaceutical sample testing will increase from 50 samples to 1,000 samples/year. Strengthening Food Safety and Public Health Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for approving this project. He said that the laboratory will further strengthen the food safety framework of the state. According to him, the testing process will become more efficient, transparent, and effective. The government is fully committed to providing pure, certified, and high-quality food products and medicines to the public. The Health Minister also said that this modern laboratory, to be built in Nava Raipur, will develop as a model laboratory for the entire state and will play a crucial role in strengthening public health systems.
