Extensive discussion on Raipur’s city development roadmap; Railways, Municipal Corporation and Public Works Department to enhance coordination to accelerate project execution High-level review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister on integrated development of Raipur city and surrounding areas Special focus on connectivity, education, healthcare, employment, roads, drinking water, electricity and communication infrastructure Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that there will be no shortage of funds for the development of Raipur city. The state government is committed, in line with public mandate and aspirations, to develop Raipur on the lines of a metro city with a modern and robust system of roads, drinking water, electricity, healthcare, sanitation and civic amenities. He made these remarks while addressing a high-level review meeting held today at Mahanadi Bhawan, Mantralaya, regarding the comprehensive development of Raipur city and adjoining areas. The Chief Minister stated that urban local bodies have been provided with two-and-a-half times more resources than earlier for infrastructure development, enabling high-quality and time-bound execution of projects in the capital region. He noted that rapid urbanization has increased pressure on traffic, housing, water supply and public services in Raipur. Therefore, concrete and practical short-term and long-term planning is essential to ensure that the city’s requirements are met for the coming decades. Chief Minister Shri Sai emphasized that the holistic development of Raipur is possible only when the Municipal Corporation, Railways and Public Works Department work in a coordinated and planned manner. He instructed officials to prioritize on-ground issues and requirements highlighted by local public representatives while preparing action plans. The meeting included detailed discussions on the condition of the city’s drainage system, encroachments at major intersections, resale of vacant shops in municipal commercial complexes, strengthening of health infrastructure, and upgrading facilities at Mekahara Medical College. In addition, in-depth reviews were conducted on improving sanitation systems, drinking water supply, water treatment plants, sewerage networks, preservation of playgrounds, and the progress of slum redevelopment schemes to bring tangible improvements in the quality of urban life. Keeping future needs in mind, the Chief Minister also issued directions regarding proposed projects such as underground electrical lines, new road corridors, flyovers, public buildings and stadium construction. He directed all concerned departments to submit required proposals promptly to the Chief Secretary’s office and ensure that infrastructure-related works are completed within stipulated timelines so that Raipur can be developed as a modern, well-planned and citizen-friendly capital city.
