In Turkey, a school shooting incident has occurred for the second consecutive day. On Wednesday, a 13-year-old student opened fire at a middle school. Three students and one teacher died in the incident, while approximately 20 people were injured. The attacker later shot himself. Governor Mukerrem Unlueer stated that the attacker was an eighth-grade student. He had arrived at school with five weapons and seven magazines in his bag. According to preliminary information, these weapons may have belonged to his father, a former police officer. Following the incident, police were deployed in the area and an investigation was initiated. According to the governor, the attacker entered two classrooms inside the school where fifth-grade students were studying. He opened indiscriminate fire there. Four of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and their operations are ongoing. Children jumped from second floor to save their lives Meanwhile, videos that surfaced on social media showed several students trying to save their lives by jumping from the second floor of the school during the shooting. The attacker was also seen in CCTV footage firing at students in the school corridor. However, these footages have not been verified. After the incident, Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said that an investigation into the matter has been initiated. The attack took place at a vocational high school. The accused was a former student and arrived at the school with a shotgun. He fired without targeting anyone specifically and then hid inside the school. According to Governor Hasan Sildak, 10 students, four teachers, one canteen employee, and one police officer were injured in the attack. Meanwhile, police cordoned off the entire area and launched a special operation in the school. The accused refused to surrender. The Governor stated, “The accused was cornered inside the school during the operation. It was during this time that he shot himself.” The investigation into the case is ongoing.
