A massive fire broke out in the Vikasnagar area of Lucknow on Wednesday evening around 5:30 pm, destroying over 50 slum huts and triggering explosions of more than 30 LPG cylinders. The flames were so intense that they were visible from nearly 10 kilometres away. As the fire spread rapidly, around 20 nearby houses were evacuated as a precaution. Fire brought under control after 3 hours Around 20 fire brigade vehicles were deployed to control the blaze, which was finally brought under control after nearly three hours. Electricity supply in the area was cut off during the firefighting operation to prevent further hazards. A local resident claimed that his four children were burnt alive in the fire, though official confirmation is awaited. Several families lost all their belongings as their huts were reduced to ashes. Those affected were seen wailing in distress as they watched their homes burn down. Allegations of deliberate fire Some residents alleged that the fire may have been deliberately set, though authorities have not confirmed this. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. CM orders swift action Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and directed officials to immediately reach the spot and oversee relief efforts. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also visited the site and instructed authorities to expedite rescue and relief operations. ​
