In a major escalation of the crisis within the Trinamool Congress, the rebel faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee on Monday announced the suspension of Abhishek Banerjee from the party. New National Executive Committee of Trinamool Congress Announced The newly constituted National Executive Committee of the Trinamool Congress comprises the following members: 1. Arup Roy 2. Firhad Hakim 3. Aroop Biswas 4. Sabina Yasmin 5. Sandipan Saha 6. Rathin Ghosh 7. Biplab Mitra 8. Ritabrata Banerjee 9. Akhruzzaman 10. Kajal Sheikh The committee was announced during the special session convened by the party’s rebel faction, which has claimed organisational control of the Trinamool Congress and initiated a restructuring of its leadership and decision-making bodies. MLA Arup Roy becomes new Chairperson The decision was taken during a meeting of the rebel camp, which claimed to represent the “real Trinamool Congress.” A resolution was moved and passed to suspend Abhishek Banerjee from the party shortly after the formation of a new organisational committee. The newly constituted committee appointed senior MLA Arup Roy as its chairman. Former Trinamool councillors join rebel camp The rebellion within the Trinamool Congress continued to widen, with former councillors from Kolkata and several districts joining the dissident camp after sections of the parliamentary and legislative wings had already broken ranks. Leader of the Opposition and rebel Trinamool MLAs held a separate meeting with former Trinamool councillors at a hotel in New Town. Among those present were Asim Bose, Jui Biswas and Tarak Singh. The meeting was attended by Ritabrata Banerjee, Sandipan Saha, Firhad Hakim, Javed Khan and Arup Roy, along with former councillors from Kolkata, Murshidabad, Berhampore and several other districts. More than 50 former Trinamool councillors of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation reportedly participated in the meeting. Former Transport Minister Snehasis Chakraborty was also present at the gathering. Rebel Meeting at New Town Hotel The rebel faction’s meeting was held at a hotel in New Town under the leadership of newly appointed chairman Arup Roy. While the party symbol was displayed prominently at the venue, photographs of Mamata Banerjee were noticeably absent. The participation of former councillors, senior leaders and dissident legislators highlighted the growing organisational challenge facing the Mamata Banerjee-led camp as the battle for control of the Trinamool Congress intensifies. ​
