Farmers to Get Daytime Power Supply for Irrigation In MP

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said that the government is making continuous efforts to provide better facilities to farmers. Farmers will now also have access to electricity for irrigation during the day, enabling them to irrigate their crops. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav virtually addressed the ‘Balaram Krishi Mahotsav’ and Kisan Mela organised at the Krishi Upaj Mandi premises in Sheopur. He also interacted with farmers from Sheopur. The Chief Minister announced ₹60 lakh for the construction of a new rest house for farmers at the Krishi Upaj Mandi. During the virtual event, which he joined from Gwalior Airport, Sheopur district in-charge minister and Minister for New and Renewable Energy Shri Rakesh Shukla, Agriculture Minister Shri Edal Singh Kansana, Madhya Pradesh State Forest Development Corporation Chairman Shri Ramniwas Rawat and Apex Bank Chairman Shri Mahendra Singh Yadav were present.

Farmer Welfare Year Being Observed Across the State

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the current year is being observed as Krishak Kalyan Varsh in Madhya Pradesh, under which various programmes are being organised for the welfare of farmers. Farmers are being provided crop loans at zero per cent interest. Earlier, a repayment period of six months each was prescribed for Kharif and Rabi crops. This has now been extended to one year. Farmers will therefore have one year from the date of availing the loan to repay it.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that animal husbandry is also being promoted to increase farmers’ income. He called for expanding the network of milk cooperative societies and increasing milk production. He said that Sheopur district not only records bumper production of paddy and wheat, but farmers in the district are also cultivating millets and other coarse grains.
