US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and US envoy Steve Witkoff held important talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday. The meeting was part of the US efforts to help end the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. This was the first visit to Kyiv for both Kushner and Witkoff. A day earlier, they had met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. After the meeting, Witkoff said, We had a very meaningful and important conversation. It was a very serious discussion. We are very excited about it and will continue the talks as long as necessary. Kushner said the US delegation had learned a lot from the trip. Zelensky showed Witkoff and Kushner the famous 11th-century mosaic of the Virgin Orans inside St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv, also known as the Unbreakable Wall. Delegations from both countries held talks in Kyiv, Ukraine, to prevent war with Russia. Delegation from European countries was also present in the meeting. The US envoys also held discussions with representatives from Britain, France, and Germany. Zelensky welcomed the presence of European countries. He said, “We are grateful that European countries are with us today and that we are part of such a coalition of countries. We are all on the same side.” The US delegation arrived in Kyiv by train, marked “Peace Express” on the platform. Zelensky explained that Ukraine had prepared its airports for the arrival of the US envoys, but Russian attacks prevented air travel. According to a White House official, US envoys have discussed concrete plans, which will be announced in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the Kremlin, Russia’s presidential office, also said US envoys had put forward some ideas for ending the war, but did not provide details.
