Girl says ‘bye-bye papa’, jumps into Chenab river:Tells father on call – ‘My heart says this is the path I should take’

A young woman jumped into the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district. The incident occurred at around 2 p.m. Saturday at the Shiva Dal Bridge near Prem Nagar. She has been missing since jumping into the river. Police, the State Disaster Response Force, and locals are searching for her in the river. The girl’s father told the police that before committing suicide, his daughter had spoken to him from someone’s phone. He asked her several times what was wrong with her and whether anyone was bothering her, but the daughter simply said: “No, Dad, this is my life. My heart tells me I must go this way.” Then he said, “Bye, bye, Dad,” and jumped into the river. Later, she called her father, Krishna Lal, and told him she was feeling unwell and needed to see a doctor. When she couldn’t find a doctor, she returned with someone on her bike. Shortly after, the man called the girl’s father and informed him that his daughter wanted to talk to him and had suddenly run towards the Chenab River. The father immediately spoke to his daughter on the phone, and she said goodbye to him and jumped into the river. ​
