Congress MLA claims rape of bodies of beautiful women:Alleges irregularities at Rewa hospital; says families are also charged for post-mortems

In Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, Congress MLA Abhay Mishra has made extremely serious allegations regarding Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. During the Congress sit-in protest at Jaystambh Square on Tuesday, he said that if the body of a beautiful woman is brought to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for a postmortem, she is raped. The MLA also alleged that money is extorted from the relatives of the deceased in the name of conducting postmortems. However, the MLA’s serious allegation has not been independently verified. No official evidence confirming any such incident during postmortems at the hospital has come to light either. Postmortems of 3 to 10 bodies are conducted at the hospital every day At Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, postmortems are conducted on at least 3 and at most 7 to 10 bodies every day. These include the bodies of both women and men. The deceased belong to different age groups. Abhay Mishra has made these allegations at a time when the Congress is staging a protest over the deaths of postpartum woman Kalpana Mishra and her newborn child at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. Kalpana Mishra was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for delivery. She and her newborn child died after a C-section. Following this, the family members alleged negligence in the treatment. Action has been taken against the hospital’s doctors and nursing staff in the matter, and an investigation has also been ordered. Congress raised questions about these matters related to the hospital 1. Kalpana-newborn’s death: Twenty-five-year-old Kalpana Mishra, who was admitted for her first delivery, died during treatment. The newborn also could not be saved. The family alleged negligence in the treatment. The hospital superintendent had denied any negligence. In the case, two doctors and two nursing staff members were suspended, and later the hospital superintendent was also removed. After this, Kalpana’s father began a sit-in protest, demanding an FIR and action against those responsible. 2. Living patient declared dead: On September 5, doctors at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital declared 66-year-old Girija Prasad Gupta, who was undergoing treatment there, dead. His family members took him to the hearse. During this time, they felt the patient breathing and noticed that his pulse had started again. About an hour later, he was brought back from the morgue and admitted to the ICU. The hospital said it would investigate the matter. 3. Snake Bite Injection Given for a Dog Bite: On September 6-7, 18-year-old Ayush Singh alleged that he had gone to the hospital to get an anti-rabies injection after being bitten by a dog. His prescription mentioned “H/O U/K Snake Bite,” meaning a history of an unknown snake bite, and it is alleged that he was given an injection meant for a snake bite. When he later returned to the hospital, he was given an anti-rabies injection. The hospital said that it would take action after an investigation. 4. Allegation that maggots developed in the patient’s body: On September 7, the family members of Satna resident Archana Gupta alleged that neglect in treatment and care had led to a condition resembling maggot infestation in her body. The family also alleged that the hospital did not refer her for better treatment and seized their mobile phone for recording a video of the patient. The hospital administration called the allegations baseless and said that the patient was being treated according to medical protocol. 5. Case of a Young Man Jumping from the Hospital Building
The case of a young man jumping from the upper floor of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital on August 31* came to light. After the youth fell from the hospital building, questions were also raised about the hospital’s security arrangements. Digvijaya Singh Demanded the Health Minister’s Resignation Former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh joined the Congress protest in Rewa. He mentioned the incident in which a live patient was declared dead at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, as well as the death of Kalpana’s newborn. Targeting Health Minister Rajendra Shukla, he said, “If the Health Minister is not held responsible, then who should be?” He demanded the minister’s resignation and raised questions about the state’s healthcare system.
