Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said this year’s BRICS Summit marks a historic milestone as the grouping celebrates its 20th anniversary. “In human life, the age of 20 marks the beginning of a new phase of maturity and responsibility. Today, BRICS too is at its coming-of-age moment,” PM Modi said at Bharat Mandapam. “Over the past 20 years, BRICS has established a distinct identity. We respect each other’s perspectives and move forward through consensus. We are not against anyone; rather, we seek to move forward with the approach of taking everyone along,” he added. The 18th BRICS Summit got underway at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. PM Modi, Russian President Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping shared a light moment, holding hands and laughing together. PM Modi will hold 15 bilateral meets. Xi is in India after 7 years. Theme: “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” 11 member nations participating.
