YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy has refused to provide Bengaluru-based Yelahanka Palace for his niece Anjili’s wedding. He told his sister and the bride’s mother, APCC president YS Sharmila, that serious security concerns were behind the decision. YSRCP has released a letter Jagan wrote to Sharmila. It is dated 9 October. The relationship between the siblings has been strained for some time. Jagan wrote that the arrival of a large number of people would pose a threat to the security and privacy of his home. Anjili’s wedding is scheduled for 25 November. Sharmila has invited several high-profile people to the wedding. The cards had also been printed with Bengaluru’s Yelahanka Palace listed as the venue. A fresh political dispute has erupted between Andhra Pradesh’s ruling TDP and the opposition YSRCP over the issue. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called Jagan “Kansa” and accused him of obstructing his niece’s wedding. The key points in Jagan’s letter… Jagan offered the option of Lotus Pond Jagan appealed to Sharmila to understand his situation and choose another venue for the wedding. Jagan wrote, “If you do not want to use a convention centre or have a destination wedding, as you did for Raja’s wedding, I have offered you the option of using my Lotus Pond house in Hyderabad. That offer still stands.” Jagan said, “I genuinely want Jili’s wedding to be a special day that she will always remember fondly. I want to make every effort to ensure that. But I also ask you to understand my perspective on this matter.” Naidu compares Jagan to Kansa Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu alleged that Jagan had created an obstacle to his niece’s wedding by refusing to allow it to be held at Yelahanka Palace in Bengaluru. Naidu compared Jagan to Kansa, the maternal uncle of Lord Krishna. He said Kansa had allegedly created obstacles to his niece’s wedding, after which Krishna killed him. Naidu alleged that Jagan was moving away from family values. He said Jagan was treating his mother and sister unfairly. Naidu said, “He is not giving Yelahanka Palace for his niece’s wedding. How strange is this development? Sister Sharmila will also have a share in the property.” YSRCP hits back at Naidu YSRCP accused Naidu of making personal attacks against Jagan. The party said the Chief Minister was trying to divert attention from the alleged atrocities linked to the ongoing local body elections in the state. In a statement, the party accused the Chief Minister of “spewing venom while hiding the truth” and of making allegations against the YSRCP chief. YSRCP said, “While the entire country is discussing the electoral atrocities and attacks on YSRCP candidates to prevent them from filing nominations, Chandrababu has stooped even lower by making personal attacks against Jagan to divert attention from the debate under way in the country and the state.” There was no immediate reaction from Sharmila on the matter.
