The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is preparing major changes to its organisational structure. The proposed changes include reducing the number of regions and creating new divisions. According to sources, the RSS’s 11 regions will be reduced to nine. Around 90 divisions will be created in place of the existing 46 provinces. For the first time, the RSS will create organisational units at the state level. These will comprise only a state pracharak and a state karyawah. Under this arrangement, there will be no post of state sanghchalak. The RSS’s Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal (ABKM) will hold its annual meeting in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, from 2 to 4 November. The three-day meeting will discuss the organisation’s restructuring, activities for the centenary year, and national and international issues. Preparing to decentralise the organisation The proposed changes are aimed at decentralising the Sangh’s functioning. Under the plan, responsibilities will be distributed more effectively and coordination will be improved at different levels. With a larger number of divisions being created, managing organisational activities is expected to become easier. This will also help implement programmes in different regions. The RSS’s existing organisational structure did not have a separate state-level unit. Under the new arrangement, there will only be a state pracharak and a state karyavah at the state level. Changes in the duration and venue of meetings The meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, the Sangh’s highest decision-making body, will no longer be held every year. Under the proposed arrangement, the meeting will be held in Nagpur every three years. Regional-level meetings will be held every two years. The aim of these changes is to strengthen coordination between the regions, divisions and state-level units. Once the changes are implemented, there will be a major restructuring of the RSS’s administrative and organisational framework. This will create a new system for coordination between the regions, divisions and state units. RSS to hold All India Executive Board meeting in Indore The RSS’s three-day All India Executive Board meeting will be held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, from 2 to 4 November. The activities conducted during the centenary year will also be reviewed. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and all six joint general secretaries will attend the meeting. The heads of all-India departments and members of the organisation’s executive body will also take part in the meeting.
