With financial assistance from the Chhattisgarh government, women are saving for their daughters’ education and future, along with meeting household expenses. Depositing funds in Sukanya Samriddhi accounts To ensure economic independence of women in the state and to continuously improve their health and nutrition levels and to strengthen their decisive role in the family, to remove discrimination, inequality and lack of awareness towards women in the society, to improve health and nutrition levels and to promote economic independence and women empowerment, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has been implemented in Chhattisgarh, under which financial assistance of Rs 1000 per month is being provided to eligible married women. The Chhattisgarh government’s Mahtari Vandan Yojana was officially launched on March 1, 2024 and was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 10, 2024. The Prime Minister has said that Modi’s guarantee means the guarantee of fulfillment of the guarantee. Under this scheme, benefits are being provided to all eligible married women of the state. Apart from this, widows, divorcees and abandoned women are also taking advantage of this scheme. The financial assistance of Chhattisgarh’s Mahatari Vandan Yojana is becoming a means for women to fulfill their domestic needs as well as to secure the future of their daughters. They are depositing a part of the amount received from the scheme in Sukanya Samriddhi accounts, so that they can get financial support for their daughters’ higher education and other needs in future. This initiative is strengthening the resolve of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ at the grassroots level. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said that respecting women and their economic empowerment is not just a scheme or program for our government, but a key priority of good governance. We believe that when women in a family are economically empowered, it positively impacts the entire family. Their participation in decisions ranging from children’s education and nutrition to the family’s health and future is strengthened. Therefore, through the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, the government is empowering mothers and sisters with the financial strength to make their own decisions. Saving for her daughter’s education wasn’t easy for Pramila Potami of Bodri village in Dantewada district. The regular monthly assistance she receives from the Mahatari Vandan Yojana (Mahatari Vandan Yojana) has opened the door for her to save. Pramila says, “Our income isn’t enough to save anything. The funds from the Mahatari Vandan Yojana (Mahatari Vandan Yojana) are very helpful. I deposit a portion of this money into a Sukanya Samriddhi account, which will be used for my daughter’s education in the future.” Dantewada in South Bastar has long been affected by Naxal violence. In this region, this effort to save for a daughter’s education is giving new hope for changing aspirations and a better future. Like Pramila, several other women are also investing a portion of their monthly assistance in saving for their daughters. This scheme is helping women become financially independent, enabling them to develop their own sources of income and support their families financially. This scheme is empowering women, helping them become aware of their rights and realize them. Meena Nishad of Raveli village in Raipur district has also opened a Sukanya Samriddhi account for her daughter, Mahima. She says, “I receive one thousand rupees every month from the Mahatari Vandan Yojana. I deposit this amount in my daughter’s Sukanya Samriddhi account. She deposits a portion of the monthly assistance into her daughter’s Sukanya account and uses the remaining amount for household expenses. According to her, regular financial support has increased her confidence in saving a little for the future. Meanwhile, Deepali Markam of Baghmara village in the Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district is using the money to save for her children’s schooling needs and her daughter’s future. She says every parent wants their children to receive a good education and advance in life, but saving for the future isn’t easy with limited household resources. The monthly assistance is helping her contribute to her children’s education and save for her daughter. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai has said that the women of Chhattisgarh are our pride. The government of good governance is strengthening the honor, self-respect and self-reliance of the mothers and sisters of the state by providing financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 every month i.e. Rs. 12,000 annually through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana.
