A 56-year-old woman has tested HIV positive after undergoing knee treatment in Harda. Her son claims the blood given to his mother from the district hospital’s blood bank was contaminated. However, CMHO Dr. H.P. Singh said the chance of getting HIV from blood provided by the blood bank is very low. Authorities are investigating the matter. Operation performed at AIIMS Bhopal The family said that the woman was admitted to Baghel Hospital on August 20. On August 22, knee surgery was performed and 2 units of blood were transfused from the district hospital blood bank. She was discharged on August 28, but on September 10, her thigh bone broke. When she was readmitted to the hospital on September 11, tests revealed the woman was HIV positive. Family members said that after the HIV report came, Baghel Hospital and other private hospitals refused treatment. Later, surgery was performed at AIIMS Bhopal. Now in this case, the woman’s son has complained to the Collector and other officials. Doctor says – There could be other reasons for being positive Baghel Hospital Director Dr. Vishal Singh Baghel said, it’s possible that the patient was HIV positive from before. Sometimes in the initial “window period” the report comes negative, but may be found positive in later tests. What is the difference between HIV and AIDS The basic difference between them is that HIV is a virus that weakens our immune system. While AIDS is a medical condition that occurs due to HIV infection. This means that the immune system has become severely weakened. This can also be understood that if a person does not have HIV infection, they cannot get AIDS. If an HIV infected person receives treatment in the early stages, they can be prevented from getting AIDS. While without treatment, almost all infected people are at risk of developing AIDS. Can HIV be cured So far there is no cure or vaccine available for HIV. However, several alternative treatments have been discovered that can help reduce the damage caused to the body by HIV infection. Its progression can be slowed down. Understand it this way – if it takes 10 years to progress from first to second and then third stage after HIV infection, with the help of alternative treatments this cycle can be extended to 20, 30, 40 years or even longer. This typically involves antiretroviral therapy (ART).
