In Kukshi, Dhar district, a man who dismembered a five-year-old boy on Friday was reportedly preparing for a police recruitment exam. The accused Mahesh Mayda (24) dismembered the child into three pieces with a faliya (sharp weapon). He also attacked the child’s mother, Sonabai. After the incident, people caught and tied up the accused. They also beat him. Mahesh succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital. Dhoobaydi Mohalla is located 10 kilometers from Kukshi on the Alirajpur State Highway, adjacent to the main road. About two kilometers ahead is Aali village. Sonabai said, it was around 10:15 AM on Friday. I was working in a room. Vikas was also playing nearby. My husband was working outside. The daughters were also with him. During this, Mahesh Mayda came inside the house. He sat on the cot kept in the same room. He was not wearing slippers on his feet. Seeing him, I asked if he had come from Pavagadh? Have you lost your way? Who are you? He didn’t say anything. He kept looking around for two-three minutes. He also asked for water. I gave him water. Then I called my husband. I said – show them the way to the road. My husband came inside. During this, the young man saw the axe hanging on the wall and picked it up. He started brandishing the axe. He attacked my husband, but he ducked, so he was saved. Seeing this, both of them screamed. I thought the young man had come to kill my husband. I screamed and told my husband to run away through the back door. Hearing this, my husband ran outside. Meanwhile, the daughters had also come inside. I took both of them and ran out through the back door. In the hurry, Vikas was left behind. When I realized, I ran back inside to get my son. Meanwhile, the accused attacked my son’s neck with a falia (a type of axe-like weapon) in front of me. He made two more strikes. He cut my son into three pieces in front of me. It was as if he had gone mad with bloodlust. I understood that he would kill me too, so I also ran. I started shouting outside, then the people nearby and my husband came. He stood at the main door with the blood-stained falia. He stood there for about five minutes. No one dared to go near him.
