Major Decision Regarding Paddy Procurement in Chhattisgarh for Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26

Under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, a Cabinet meeting was held today at the Mahanadi Bhawan, Secretariat, in which an important decision was taken regarding paddy procurement from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26.

Detailed Decisions

  • The State Government has decided to commence paddy procurement from 15 November 2025 to 31 January 2026 under the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26.
  • During this period, paddy will be procured from 25 lakh farmers at the rate of ₹3,100 per quintal, with a limit of 21 quintals per acre.
  • To enhance transparency, e-KYC and mandatory registration of farmers on the Agristack Portal of the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, has been implemented to ensure proper identification and prevent duplication. Registration will remain open until 31 October 2025.
  • A digital crop survey has been conducted over 23 lakh hectares, enabling online verification of paddy cultivation areas.
  • In 20,000 villages, data from the digital crop survey and manual girdawari is being publicly read and verified in Gram Sabhas starting 2 October.
  • Through the “Token Tuhar Hath” mobile app, farmers can now generate online tokens themselves to sell paddy at a date and time of their convenience.
  • To ensure procurement from genuine farmers, biometric-based verification will be implemented at procurement centers.
  • Paddy procurement will take place at 2,739 centers, and committees have been directed to ensure adequate arrangements.
  • Committees will receive an incentive of ₹5 per quintal if there are zero dry grain complaints during the marketing year 2025–26.
  • Instructions have been issued to arrange for new and old jute gunny bags as per requirement.
  • The Government of India’s Food Department has set a target of 73 lakh metric tonnes of rice to be contributed to the Central Pool for Kharif 2025–26.
  • For the first time, to prevent paddy recycling and ensure better monitoring, an Integrated Command and Control Center will be established at the MARKFED Headquarters, with district-level control rooms to follow.
  • To ensure smooth operations at procurement centers, Collectors will appoint administrative officers as procurement center in-charges.
  • Special checking teams will be constituted at the district level to prevent the inflow of paddy from neighboring states.
  • Instructions have also been given to ensure cost-effectiveness and transparency in transportation, including physical verification of paddy lifting and movement.
