The Jabalpur CBI team on Saturday took major action, arresting an officer posted in a bank in Sidhi red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. The bank officer’s name is Vikas Bharti, who is a Field Officer in the bank. On the complaint of Kantilal Soni, a resident of Sidhi, the CBI traveled about two hundred and fifty kilometers to arrest the corrupt officer. Actually, Kantilal Soni had applied for a Mudra loan a few days ago at the Mans Bhawan branch of SBI in Sidhi district. He met Field Officer Vikas Bharti at the bank. During their conversation, the Field Officer told Kantilal that he was eligible for a loan of only up to Rs 10 lakh, and not more than that. Vikas Bharti took the photocopies of necessary documents and other records, along with the application form, for the loan approval process. Demanded 20 thousand rupees in exchange for a 5 lakh loan A few days later, Kantilal came to know that only 5 lakh rupees had been sanctioned as a loan for him. The next day, Kantilal reached the bank to meet the Field Officer, where he was told that a loan of 5 lakh rupees had been approved, and 20 thousand rupees would be required as a bribe to issue the check in exchange for the approval. When Kantilal refused to pay, the check was denied, and the complainant lodged a complaint about this at the Jabalpur CBI office, Vijay Nagar. Upon receiving the complaint, the CBI team trapped the conversation between the two over the phone. On Saturday evening, the Field Officer called Kantilal to meet him at the bank with the bribe amount. As soon as Kantilal called the Field Officer, he came out of the bank to collect the bribe amount. As Field Officer Kantilal was taking the bribe amount and putting it away, the CBI team, which was already waiting outside, arrested him. The CBI also conducted investigations at the bank branch and his home in connection with the Field Officer. Records related to the loan case involving the bribe have been seized. The CBI team that conducted the raid included DSP AK Mishra, UP Singh, Rahul Tiwari, Nitesh Singh, and others.
