After charging stations for e-buses are built in the municipal corporation areas of Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Bhopal, Indore in the state, e-buses will start operating in these cities. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said during the distribution of Swachhta Awards that more than nine e-buses will start soon in the state. After this, the focus will now be on accelerating the work of building charging stations by urban bodies. Tenders have also been issued for this in some municipal corporations. 972 e-buses will be received from the Government of India The Government of India has decided to provide 972 e-buses to the urban local bodies of MP for the Urban Development and Housing Department. Out of these, 500 e-buses were to be given in the first lot, and the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, has floated tenders for 472 e-buses, and this information has been received by the Urban Development Department of MP. Based on this, the administrations of the municipal corporations where e-buses are to be operated in the first phase in MP, namely Bhopal, Jabalpur, Indore, Gwalior, and Ujjain, have been asked to build depots so that the buses can be parked and charged once charging stations are built. Until this happens, even if the e-buses arrive, they will not be able to be operated. In the second phase, e-buses are to be provided to the municipal corporations of Sagar, Dewas, and Satna in MP. Therefore, along with the five major cities, the municipal commissioners of these cities will also be instructed to find locations for e-bus depots and to complete the tender process quickly, so that these stations can be started and e-bus operations can commence in the early stages of 2026. Centre to inform after tender for 500 buses It is reported that after tendering for 472 e-buses out of 972 e-buses, the MP government has been informed in writing. However, the state government has not yet received information about the tender for the remaining 500 e-buses. The central government will also process this soon. The tender for 472 buses to be received by Madhya Pradesh from the Government of India has been awarded to Green Cell Company. The company will build 10 depots in MP. It will also provide e-buses to six cities. The Government of India will also provide operational and maintenance costs to the company for 12 years. Out of the buses allocated for Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, and Sagar, 472 buses will be midi e-buses (26-seater) and 110 will be mini e-buses (21-seater). The fare for e-buses will be decided by the Municipal Corporation. The operation of e-buses will be based on the GCC (Global Capability Center) model.
