At Jabalpur railway station, a passenger who bought two samosas became the target of a samosa vendor’s aggression after his UPI payment failed. According to reports, the vendor grabbed the passenger’s collar, slapped him, and forcibly took off his wristwatch. The incident reportedly occurred on platform number 5 and was captured in a 34-second video by another passenger present at the station. Video goes viral on social media The video, shared on the social media platform X by a user named Honest Cricket Lover, clearly shows the passenger attempting to board a slowly departing train without collecting the samosas. The vendor can be seen stopping him by holding his collar, and when the passenger tried to pull away, the vendor forcibly removed his watch. The passenger later wrote on X, condemning the incident, stating, Shameful incident at Jabalpur Railway Station. Over a trivial matter, the samosa seller grabbed my collar and forced me to hand over my watch just to catch my train. Now even travelling by train is not safe in the country. Immediate action by Railway authorities Following the viral video, the Jabalpur Division Railway Manager (DRM) took immediate action. Within hours, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained the accused vendor and registered a legal case against him. DRM Jabalpur confirmed on X that the video had been investigated, the vendor was identified, and the legal process against him had been initiated. License cancellation and passenger safety The DRM also stated that steps were being taken to cancel the vendor’s license. West Central Railway headquarters issued an official statement stressing that passenger safety is the highest priority and that anti-social elements would not be tolerated under any circumstances. The prompt response by railway authorities highlights their commitment to maintaining law and order at the station and ensuring the safety of commuters. Incident details The incident reportedly took place on Friday, October 17, when the passenger attempted to pay for the samosas via UPI. As the train began moving, the vendor allegedly became irate and confronted the passenger physically, demanding either payment or possession of the samosas.
