In Harpalpur, Chhatarpur, the Municipal CMO reportedly had garbage dumped inside the house of a former BJP block president. A video of the incident is being shared widely on social media. The incident took place on 18 October when CMO Shailendra Singh visited the area to inspect Diwali cleaning. Garbage was found in front of the house of former BJP block president Mahesh Rai. Seeing this, the CMO became angry and instructed his staff to pick up the garbage and dump it inside the BJP leader’s house. In the video, the CMO can be seen saying:”You threw garbage, so I am throwing it in your house.” Complaint filed after garbage was dumped Mahesh Rai, the former block president, said that on the evening of 18 October, the CMO came to his house with his staff. Seeing pieces of paper and garbage outside the house, he became agitated. Rai stated that he told the CMO that sanitation workers do not come on time. In anger, the CMO ordered his staff to pick up the garbage and dump it inside Rai’s house. Rai has filed complaints about the incident with the Collector, SDM, and the BJP district president. CMO says garbage was to be placed in vehicle CMO Shailendra Singh said that he had asked BJP leader Mahesh Rai to place the garbage into the municipal vehicle, but Rai became upset and started an argument. Following this, the CMO instructed the staff to dump the garbage inside Rai’s house as a warning. A fine of 500 rupees was also imposed, but Rai refused to accept the receipt. As a result, the fine amount was added to his property tax register. ​
