Violence erupted in Bakal after a protest over a youth assault escalated into an attack on the local police station late Wednesday night. Two policemen were injured, with Head Constable Krishan Kumar Shukla in critical condition. Police have filed an FIR against five accused. Assault on youth sparks tensions On October 19, Kunal Singh Rajput was allegedly abducted and brutally beaten by Aseem Khan and Amil Khan. Reports state he was burned with cigarettes, beaten, and his mobile phone was stolen. The incident triggered outrage among local residents and Hindu organizations. See 2 pictures… Karni Sena leads protest On Wednesday, Karni Sena and allied Hindu groups staged a protest in Bakal. Protesters besieged the Bakal police station and blocked the bus stand, demanding the removal of Station In-Charge Rashmi Sonkar. Police intervention by the Additional Superintendent of Police temporarily ended the demonstration. Nighttime violence Around 10 PM, a group of protesters returned to the police station and attacked on-duty officers. Both Krishan Kumar Shukla and Constable Avadhesh Mishra were injured. Shukla was shifted to a private hospital in Katni, where his condition remains critical. Police response Police filed a case following Kunal Singh’s complaint. Seem Khan and Amil Khan were arrested in connection with the original assault. Officials stated that despite these arrests, some instigators incited locals to attack the station, resulting in the violent clash. Heavy police deployment remains in Bakal to maintain law and order. ​
