The Madhya Pradesh police, amid Diwali 2025 festivities, launched a state-wide operation to curb illegal gambling and betting activities and ensure the upkeep of law and order, a statement issued by the MP Police Headquarters (PHQ) issued on Thursday read. Under the directives of MP’s Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana, the police initiated an intensive drive across the state to maintain a clean, safe, and disciplined social atmosphere during the festive period. Large-scale raids carried out across numerous districts As per the PHQ officials, throughout the campaign, police teams from various districts carried out continuous and vigilant operations. So far, hundreds of accused have been arrested red-handed, with seizures including Rs 65.31 lakh in cash, multiple mobile phones, four-wheelers and two-wheelers, decks of playing cards, and other gambling-related equipment. The total property seized amounts to crores of rupees. District-wise highlights In addition, police teams in Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Tikamgarh, Datia, Narmadapuram, Shivpuri, Mandla, Balaghat, Maihar, and Damoh districts of MP continued their raids, arresting a large number of accused persons involved in gambling and betting operations. Firm message issued by state police chief DGP Makwana reaffirmed that the Madhya Pradesh Police remain committed to maintaining peace, security, and public order across the state. “Strict action is being taken against those involved in gambling and betting during the Diwali festival. No offender will be spared. This campaign is not only about enforcing the law but also about strengthening social morality,” the state police chief said. He has directed the police superintendents of all the districts of the state to continue the campaign and to run local awareness programmes encouraging citizens to stay away from such illegal activities.
