In the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, an agreement was signed today at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office in Bagia, Jashpur district, between the District Administration and NTPC for the establishment of an Archery Academy at Sanna Pandrapath under the Bagicha development block. This project will be implemented by NTPC under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative at a cost of ₹20.53 crore. On this occasion, Collector Shri Rohit Vyas and NTPC’s Additional General Manager (Human Resources) Shri Bilash Mohanty were present.

Chief Minister Shri Sai expressed happiness over NTPC’s contribution of ₹20.53 crore through CSR for the establishment of the Archery Center. He stated that there is immense potential for archery among the youth of Jashpur, and this center will provide them with world-class training and infrastructure facilities.

The Chief Minister further mentioned that India has submitted its bid to host the Olympic Games in 2036. He said that efforts are being made to ensure maximum participation of athletes from Chhattisgarh in the national team so they can win medals and make the state and the nation proud. This goal, he added, can be achieved by setting up more training centers like this Archery Academy, which will help identify talented players and provide them with every possible support.

He also announced that the state government has decided to award ₹3 crore to Olympic gold medalists, ₹2 crore to silver medalists, and ₹1 crore to bronze medalists from Chhattisgarh.

Chief Minister Shri Sai highlighted that the State Sports Awards Ceremony has been revived to honor outstanding athletes. He added that new Khelo India training centers have been launched in the state, with special emphasis on developing sports infrastructure in tribal regions.

He remarked that India has a rich legacy in archery, with heroes from epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana mastering this art. Carrying forward this tradition, he said, it is now essential to prepare new archers through modern techniques and expert coaching.

It is noteworthy that the Archery Academy will be established on 10.27 acres of land at Sanna Pandrapath. The academy will include an outdoor archery range, hostels for players, staff quarters, athlete facilities, a shaded nursery for organic farming, a library, a medical center, a skill development center, herbal plantation areas, and training grounds.
