Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has instructed the removal of AK Jain, Chief General Manager (CGM) of Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company. The decision comes after AK Jain issued an order restricting electricity supply to farmers and threatening salary cuts for employees who supplied power beyond 10 hours per day. The CM stressed that the government is committed to farmers’ welfare and will act against officers issuing arbitrary orders. Controversial order by AK Jain On November 3, AK Jain issued an order stating that electricity operators would face salary deductions if they supplied more than 10 hours of electricity on agricultural feeders. The order was sent to General Managers in 15 districts, including Sehore, Rajgarh, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Harda, Vidisha, Ashoknagar, Guna, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Datia, Bhopal, and Gwalior. Salary deduction rules The order detailed salary deductions at multiple levels: Even in cases of technical issues, soil moisture, or bad weather, supply above 10 hours was considered a violation. An error margin of 15 minutes per day was allowed. Compliance and reporting All Superintending Engineers, Executive, Assistant, and Junior Engineers were instructed to follow the order. Reports of violations were to be sent to the headquarters. CM responds after media highlight Dainik Bhaskar had reported the order, raising concerns about its impact on farmers.
