Madhya Pradesh’s winter has taken an unexpected turn. Normally, the last week of November brings sharp cold, but this year the days are unusually warm and even the nights are staying above 15°C in most major cities. Meteorologists say the change is due to the absence of icy northern winds. On Wednesday–Thursday night, over 20 cities, including Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain, recorded minimum temperatures above 15°C. However, temperatures are expected to start dropping again after two days. Morning fog covers several districts Despite the rise in temperatures, dense morning fog is being reported across the state. From November 6–22: Intense cold; now a temporary relief The cold wave began unusually early this year, starting from November 6. From November 22 onward, temperatures started rising as wind patterns shifted, blocking cold northerly winds from entering MP. However, meteorologists warn that another phase of intense cold and cold-wave conditions is expected soon. Two suspected cold-related deaths in MP Cold conditions have reportedly led to two deaths in the past two days. Western disturbance to trigger cold again The IMD reports an active Western Disturbance over Pakistan and Afghanistan, which will reach the Himalayan region in two to three days. This will intensify cold in northern states and bring back chilly winds to MP, increasing the cold significantly. City temperatures rise noticeably Wednesday–Thursday night temperatures: Rewa, Kalyanpur and Nowgong remained below 10°C, while Ratlam, Tikamgarh, Sagar, Guna, Khandwa, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Dhar, Seoni, Betul and Narmadapuram recorded 15–18.8°C.
