Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has sought time to meet President Droupadi Murmu regarding seven AAP MPs allegedly leaving the party. According to sources linked to the Punjab CM’s Office, Mann wants to take all Punjab MLAs to Delhi to meet the President. He plans to demand the Right to Recall for the seven MPs who switched sides and present his position on the matter. Additionally, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh will meet the Vice President, where he will demand the cancellation of the memberships of the MPs who left the party. Sanjay Singh and Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that only three MPs have joined the BJP, while the remaining four are still with their party. Raghav Chadha had claimed yesterday that their party has 10 MPs in the Rajya Sabha, and two-thirds of them (seven MPs) are with them. Therefore, according to him, the anti-defection law does not apply. Rejecting this claim, Finance Minister Cheema said that only three MPs have gone to the BJP. He also alleged that the signatures of two MPs, Swati Maliwal and Rajinder Gupta, were forged. Yesterday (April 24), ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, seven out of Aam Aadmi Party’s 10 Rajya Sabha MPs left the party. Six of them are from Punjab. After quitting the party, Punjab Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha joined the BJP on Friday evening along with MPs Ashok Mittal and Sandeep Pathak. According to Raghav Chadha, Harbhajan Singh, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Swati Maliwal, and Rajender Gupta are also with them. Meanwhile, on Saturday, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann took a jibe at MPs leaving AAP on social media (X). Mann wrote, Ginger, garlic, cumin, fenugreek powder, red chili, black pepper and coriander, these 7 things together make vegetables tasty, but they cannot become a vegetable themselves Meanwhile, there has been increased activity in AAP as well. AAP’s Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia had returned from Gujarat just yesterday, after which he went straight from Delhi airport to meet AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal. After this, on Saturday morning itself, Dr. Balvir Singh, Health Minister in Punjab’s AAP government, met Sisodia in Delhi. Speaking to media here, Minister Dr. Singh said- BJP is running Operation Lotus in Punjab. The MPs have betrayed Punjab. Why didn’t they resign? Raids were conducted at Ashok Mittal’s premises for 4 days, these stopped only after the letter was signed. On meeting Sisodia, the minister said- We keep meeting our leaders and should meet them. Finance Minister said, ‘Harbhajan’s commentary would have stopped, Mittal was scared of raid’
Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that now the biggest test is of the Vice President. Only 3 MPs of AAP have joined BJP, so the anti-defection law applies. Raghav Chadha claims signatures of 7 MPs but Swati Maliwal has not mentioned anywhere in her tweet that she has signed. Cheema said – Rajinder Gupta has gone abroad to get his bypass surgery done. Both of these have forged signatures. Their signatures were done just to show seven members. All 7 members should have gone together, then they could have escaped the law. They only have 18 months left. Cheema said that Harbhajan Singh was brought forward so that he would show the path to the youth but he turned traitor and ran away. He is afraid that BJP will get his commentary stopped. They have control over BCCI. Ashok Mittal was raided, he was told that either join the party or your business will be shut down. 3 crore Punjabis will teach these traitors a lesson. 3 MPs met Kejriwal before leaving AAP
Meanwhile, a news channel claimed citing sources that 3 MPs met AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal before leaving the party. Among them, Ashok Mittal met on April 19, Vikramjit Sahni on April 22, and Sandeep Pathak met Kejriwal on April 23. Mittal even spoke to Kejriwal on April 23. Regarding only 3 MPs appearing at yesterday’s conference, sources are saying that Rajinder Gupta is currently abroad. Swati Maliwal was in Itanagar yesterday and Harbhajan Singh could not come due to IPL contract. MP Sahni did not appear before the media due to health reasons. Know the reasons why 7 MPs left AAP After leaving AAP, Raghav said, ‘I am the right man in the wrong party’
Raghav said that for the past few years I was feeling that I am the right person in the wrong party. Therefore, today I announce that I am distancing myself from AAP and going closer to the people. Before entering politics, I was a practicing Chartered Accountant (CA). On this platform, there were people from different fields with me. Some were scientists, while others were academicians. Today, among those leaving AAP are a world-class cricketer, a Padma Shri awardee, and several social workers. All these people had sacrificed everything and united with the resolve to build a corruption-free India to establish this party. Raghav said – There are still more who will come along. The Constitution of India provides this provision that if more than 2/3 of MPs wish to join another party, they can do so. This right has been given to us by the Constitution of India itself. What CM Mann said yesterday about MPs
CM Bhagwant Mann had said that I have been saying earlier too that BJP doesn’t get along with Punjabis, whatever makes Punjabis happy, it tries to spoil that. When our government was formed, our RDF money was stopped. He said that the party is big, the organization is big, not the individual. These six-seven people who have left, have betrayed the Punjabis. Sitting here, they got positions, they didn’t need to ask anyone for votes. Now they have gone there not for their politics, but to save their lives, but nothing is going to happen for them there either. The CM said that I tell the ED people to raid Bhagwant Mann’s house. They raided Sanjay Singh’s house. What did they find? Come, if you have the courage, buy Bhagwant Mann and show us. That currency has not been created yet, with which Mann can be bought. He said that Raghav Chadha started feeling suffocated here. When he was at bungalow number 50, fresh air used to come there. Even a bicycle has a stand. Stand somewhere at least. Actually, he was not even worthy of becoming a sarpanch.
