The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested another teacher from Pune in connection with the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. The accused, senior Botany teacher Manisha Gurunath Mandhre, allegedly shared several Botany and Zoology questions with students before the exam. According to the CBI, many of the questions given to students were from the original NEET paper held on May 3, 2026. The agency said Mandhre had been appointed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an expert for the NEET exam. She reportedly had full access to the Botany and Zoology question papers. Investigators said that in April 2026, the accused recruited NEET candidates through Manisha Waghmare from Pune, who was already arrested by the CBI on May 14. The CBI alleged that Mandhre ran special coaching classes from her home in Pune. During these classes, she explained Botany and Zoology questions to students, dictated answers into notebooks and marked questions in textbooks. 9 accused arrested so far So far, the CBI has arrested nine people in the case from Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune and Ahilyanagar. Five of the accused have been produced in court and sent to a seven-day police remand. Meanwhile, two other accused arrested on Thursday were brought to Delhi on transit remand from a Pune court and are being presented before a Delhi court. In the last 24 hours, the CBI conducted raids at six locations across the country. Officials seized important documents, laptops, bank statements and mobile phones during the searches. The agency is now carrying out forensic and digital investigations of the seized material. Arrests made in the case: NSUI protests outside NTA office and Education Minister’s residence Following the NEET-UG paper leak case, members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) protested outside the NTA office, demanding that the agency be banned. Workers from the Indian Youth Congress (IYC), carrying posters, banners and party flags, marched from Teen Murti Circle towards the residence of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, but were stopped by police. NSUI workers also arrived carrying chains and locks. They created a disturbance outside the Education Minister’s home and threw fake currency notes there. Police detained the Youth Congress president. Meanwhile, the United Doctors Front (UDF) has filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India seeking the dissolution of the NTA and cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exam over the paper leak case. See the pictures of the ruckus outside NTA Demand in Supreme Court to create a new body in place of NTA The petition, filed by Advocate-on-Record Ritu Reniwal and Advocate Mahendra Kumawat, seeks a court order directing the Central Government to dissolve the National Testing Agency (NTA) and replace it with a new National Testing Body through a law passed by Parliament. The petition also asks for the formation of a court-monitored committee to supervise national-level examinations and ensure that paper-based exams are no longer conducted. Youth Congress says education system has collapsed under NDA government The protesting Indian Youth Congress alleged that the education system has completely collapsed under the BJP-led NDA government. The organisation claimed that 89 exam papers have leaked in the last 12 years and that the NEET exam itself has been leaked four times. Protesters said this has raised serious questions about the credibility of the system. One IYC worker alleged that the BJP has created such a corrupt system that only children from wealthy families will get seats and jobs, while students from poor families will continue to suffer.
