The Government of India has extended the tenure of Tarun Kapoor as Advisor to the Prime Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for a further period of one year with effect from June 10, 2026.

A retired IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre (1987 batch), Kapoor has been serving in the PMO, contributing to key policy matters and governance initiatives. His continued association with the Prime Minister’s Office reflects the government’s confidence in his administrative experience and policy expertise.

Before joining the PMO, Kapoor held several important positions in the Government of India, including Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. He is widely recognized for his work in the energy sector, infrastructure development, and public administration.

The extension ensures continuity in policy advisory support within the PMO and is expected to further strengthen ongoing initiatives aimed at accelerating governance reforms and economic development.
