Congress has alleged that a land purchase scam has been carried out in Ujjain under the patronage of the Madhya Pradesh government. Pawan Khera, chairman of the Congress Media Department, and Jeetu Patwari, the party’s Madhya Pradesh president, made the allegations at a press conference in Delhi on Wednesday. The Congress leaders said the top leadership of the BJP is silent on the issue. “This makes it clear that it is a collusion between them (the BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The entire matter should be investigated by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court,” they demanded. The BJP has rebutted the Congress’s charges. Minister Chetanya Kashyap said that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav comes from the Other Backward Class (OBC), which is why the Congress is defaming him. ‘Does being OBC grant immunity for wrongdoings?’ asks Patwari Congress president Patwari said, “More than 30 hours have passed since the news of the Chief Minister’s family buying land came out in the media. If this news is false and baseless, then why have the Chief Minister and the BJP not taken any legal action against the concerned newspaper? Why has a defamation suit not been filed?” He accused BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal of diverting the issue. Patwari said, “When asked about the land, BJP played the card of the Chief Minister being OBC. Does being OBC mean that anyone gets a free pass to do wrong? I myself come from the OBC community and want a direct answer from the Chief Minister.” Why was 500 crore worth of land given to Veer Bharat Nyas for 1 rupee? PCC chief Patwari said, “In Ujjain, government land worth ₹500 crore was given to a trust named ‘Veer Bharat Nyas’ for a token amount of just ₹1. Its trustee is Shriram Tiwari, who is the Chief Minister’s cultural advisor.” “On what basis was such expensive land given to this trust? What was the source of income for the land bank created by his family after he became Chief Minister? Should not the details of these properties be made public? This scam is just the first series. Just four days ago, everyone saw the sting operation revealing corruption worth ₹1000 crore by running a transfer industry in six departments under the patronage of the Chief Minister.” Patwari has demanded that the government share the timeline of all projects and issue a white paper regarding all lands purchased by the Chief Minister’s family after 2023. Minister Kashyap says the land in question is an old parcel Madhya Pradesh’s MSME Minister Chetanya Kashyap termed the Congress’s allegations as a conspiracy to tarnish the Chief Minister’s image. He said, “The ‘Veer Bharat Nyas’ trust, which Jitu Patwari is accusing of grabbing land worth ₹500 crore, is not a private trust but a complete government trust.” Kashyap said Chief Minister Mohan Yadav owns a total of 17 acres of land. This land was acquired long before he became Chief Minister and is his personal property. There has been no change whatsoever in Ujjain’s Master Plan. The 10 acres of land purchased by the Chief Minister’s daughter-in-law is also completely outside the scope of the current master plan. “Jitu Patwari has stopped reading and writing. Congress is making such baseless allegations due to the frustration of the crushing defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections. Congress should first investigate the allegations of land irregularities against its national president, Mallikarjun Kharge,” he said. ‘RSS is protecting the land grabbing game,’ says Khera Earlier, Pawan Khera said, “This issue is not just a local matter of Madhya Pradesh, but an international subject because the faith of crores of people worldwide is connected with cities like Ujjain and Ayodhya. Looting the money that devotees donate by sacrificing their own needs is like stabbing people in the back.” Khera said those involved in this land-grabbing game have full protection from the Sangh. “Today’s situation has become like ‘Sangham Sharanam Gacchami’. The Sangh keeps itself as an unregistered organisation so that it retains all powers, but no responsibility or accountability can be fixed on it for any wrongdoing,” he alleged. Allegations of ‘insider trading’ like it is done in the share market Khera compared the land purchase made by the Chief Minister’s family to ‘insider trading’ in the stock market. He said, “The Chief Minister had inside and confidential information about which roads would pass through where in Ujjain’s Master Plan 2035? Which area would be marked for development plans.” “Misusing this information, the Chief Minister’s family bought 111 acres out of 168 acres in December 2023 in the same area where Simhastha is going to be held,” he said. Khera said the Congress had taken Ashok Chavan’s resignation on the allegation that he only had a flat in his mother-in-law’s name in the Adarsh Housing Society. However here, even after concrete evidence of hundreds of acres of land, the Chief Minister’s chair remains intact. he charged. Giving the example of the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, he said that even after the Supreme Court took cognizance of Chief Ministers associated with the Sangh, no action is taken. Energy Minister says Congress is tarnishing the CM’s image Energy Minister Pradhuman Singh Tomar said Congress has tarnished the image of the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. “He has not bought any land since becoming Chief Minister. Dr. Mohan Yadav’s family is free to do business. Everyone’s family members do business,” Tomar said. The Madhya Pradesh government has clarified that incorrect information is being given about the Chief Minister’s property. The conspiracy to defame the Chief Minister will not succeed, Tomar said. BJP state president avers allegations are completely false Earlier, BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal had said on Tuesday that the allegations levelled against Chief Minister Mohan Yadav are completely false. Yadav had 17 acres of land when he filed his nomination for the 2023 Assembly elections. “Even today in 2026, he has the same amount of land. Chief Minister’s wife Seema Yadav had 12.29 acres of land in her name, which has also not changed,” Khandelwal said. Khandelwal said the Chief Minister’s son Vaibhav Yadav had 16 acres of land before 2023. Chief Minister’s daughter-in-law Shalini Yadav had purchased 10 acres of agricultural land, which is located outside the master plan area. All this land predates the implementation of the master plan. The Siddhi Vinayak company mentioned in the allegations had 68 acres of land in 2023, which has now reduced to 65 acres. Mohan Yadav had resigned from the directorship of this company in 2017 itself.
