Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday met Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at Parliament House and held detailed discussions on key development projects for the state. He presented the roadmap for the overall development of Bastar and sought the Centre’s support for several major initiatives.

The Chief Minister sought special assistance from the PM on three priority areas.

First, early approval for the proposed ₹10,500 crore gas-based urea project in Rajnandgaon. He informed that land has already been made available and all state-level clearances are complete. The project will provide major relief to farmers and boost industrial growth.

Second, special central assistance to connect 461 villages to the permanent power grid. These villages earlier did not get grid connectivity due to security reasons and currently rely on off-grid power.

Third, positive consideration for setting up an All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in either Raipur or Bastar.

‘Bastar Vision’: From Naxal Hit Zone To Growth Story

Briefing the PM on ‘Bastar Vision’, CM Sai said Bastar is changing rapidly. Through ‘Niyad Nella Nar 2.0’ and ‘Bastar Abhiyan’, government schemes are being implemented across 5,542 villages in Bastar division, benefiting nearly 39 lakh people. Benefits of schemes like ration, Ayushman Bharat, Jan Dhan, Forest Rights and PM Awas are now reaching the last person.

In education, 421 schools shut in Naxal-affected areas have been reopened. On the lines of Dantewada, new Education Cities are being developed in Orcha and Jagargunda to provide quality education to children in remote areas.

Under the ‘Mukhyamantri Swasth Bastar Abhiyan’, health check-ups of over 34 lakh people have been completed. A Super Specialty Hospital is functioning in Jagdalpur and a Medical College in Geedam. New medical colleges and health infrastructure are also being expanded.

Infrastructure, Investment And Women Empowerment Push

CM Sai said that the Bastar once known for Naxal violence is now seeing rapid growth in roads, rail, power and air connectivity. Work is underway on the ₹3,513 crore Jagdalpur-Raoghat rail line. Regular air services from Jagdalpur are being expanded. He also briefed the PM on the final phase of Raipur-Visakhapatnam Expressway and the proposed barrage on Indravati River, which will provide irrigation to 32,000 hectares.

He highlighted Bastar’s cultural and tourism potential. Efforts are on to brand Bastar Dussehra as a global tourism attraction and give international recognition to Chitrakot and Tirathgarh. The Bastar Olympics, with participation of over 4 lakh youth, has strengthened peace and trust in the region.

On investments, the CM said Chhattisgarh has received investment proposals worth nearly ₹8 lakh crore since the Industrial Development Policy 2024-30. New industries coming up include AI Data Center Park, Semiconductor Plant, Hyperscale Data Center, Global BPO, Garment and Chocolate Manufacturing, Electronic Equipment and Intraocular Lens manufacturing.

Chhattisgarh has ranked No.1 in the country in NITI Aayog’s Investment Friendliness Index for regulatory and institutional environment. The state has also enacted the Ease of Doing Business Act-2026, the first law in India to legally mandate risk-based regulation, self-certification and time-bound approvals.

Lakhpati Didi And AI Mission

On women empowerment, CM Sai said the state has created 10.42 lakh Lakhpati Didis, exceeding the target. The government now aims to make 14 lakh more women financially self-reliant. He invited PM Modi as Chief Guest for the proposed Lakhpati Didi Sammelan in Raipur in 2027.

The CM also informed that Chhattisgarh is moving ahead with a ₹500 crore State AI Mission for AI-driven good governance.

Concluding, CM Sai said that under PM Modi’s guidance and with the Centre’s support, development in Chhattisgarh has gained new momentum. He expressed confidence that the Centre will extend positive cooperation to the state’s key proposals.
