Report- Iranian Supreme Leader’s 2 London flats up for sale:Sale forced by unpaid loan; ₹242 crore penthouse going for ₹153 crore

Two luxury London apartments belonging to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei have been put up for sale. The Sunday Times reports that the flats are just 50 meters from the Israeli embassy in the British capital. One of these luxury penthouses was purchased in 2016 for a total of £19 million, or approximately ₹242.53 crore. It is now being sold for less than £12 million, or approximately ₹153.17 crore. This means its current asking price is approximately ₹89.36 crore less than the purchase price. Iranian banker Ali Ansari is listed as the owner of both apartments. According to reports, Ansari defaulted on a bank loan, which is why the property is currently in receivership. Having a property in receivership means that when a homeowner defaults on a bank loan, the property’s management is handed over to an impartial third party (called a ‘receiver’) so that they can recover the bank’s money by selling or renting it out. Sales brochures show no connection to Iran The brochure for the sale of the property makes no mention of its political or Iran-related connections. However, it states that the property is in receivership, so complete information is not available. Buyers are advised to verify all relevant property information themselves before committing to a transaction. According to the report, many potential buyers have already seen these properties and are showing a lot of interest in them. The price of both the penthouses is Rs 459 crore The total value of both properties is £36 million, or approximately ₹459.54 crore. They were purchased separately in 2014 and 2016. The responsibility of its sale has been given jointly to Knight Frank and Sotheby’s International Realty. The sale advertisement describes it as a luxury duplex penthouse at a prime London address, with staff accommodation and spectacular views of Kensington Gardens. Both properties are located at 3A Palace Green in London, across from Kensington Palace and close to the official London residence of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Both apartments also feature private roof terraces. ​
