Cited Personal Reasons, Family Priorities and New Life Goals in Resignation on Aug 30 The Centre has accepted the resignation of 2013-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer Divya Mittal, with her exit from the service effective from September 15 2026 The Union Ministry of Personnel has issued a notification confirming her exit. Mittal herself announced the development on social media on Monday night, writing: _“My resignation from the IAS has been accepted. The path ahead is noble and blessed, so keep moving forward.”_ Mittal had submitted her voluntary resignation on August 30, citing personal reasons, family priorities and new life goals. 6bbd FROM IIT-IIM TO LONDON TO IAS Originally from Rewari, Haryana, Mittal is an alumna of IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore. Before joining civil services, she worked in London in a lucrative corporate job and left it to return to India to serve the nation. She cleared UPSC twice — first selected for IPS and then secured IAS with AIR 68 in the 2013 batch. A 13-YEAR ADMINISTRATIVE CAREER During her 13-year career, she served as District Magistrate of Sant Kabir Nagar, Mirzapur and Deoria, and was known for her firm administrative style. Her last posting was as Special Secretary, Revenue Department after being relieved as DM Deoria in May 2026. Her tenure in Mirzapur drew wide attention when tap water reached Lahuria Dah, a remote hill village, 75 years after Independence — a moment she described as unforgettable when an elderly woman blessed her with trembling hands. In her emotional resignation note, she wrote: _“Deoria taught me that standing up for what is right is not an option, but a duty. Mirzapur taught me that ‘impossible’ is not a fact, but simply an opinion.”_ She still had around 17 years of service left. She has hinted that her next chapter may include writing, teaching and social service.
