Eight students who had come to Maharashtra’s Diveagar beach for a picnic drowned on Thursday. All eight bodies have been recovered. According to police, the students had travelled from Pune for the picnic. They entered the sea and drowned after misjudging the depth of the water. Police recovered the bodies of all eight students. See photos after the incident- Group of 48 had come for picnic According to media reports, a group of 48 people from Pune’s Alandi area had come to Diveagar for a picnic. Police said the Class 11 and 12 students were from Winners Academy. They had travelled to Diveagar beach in Raigad district, around 170 km from Mumbai. The group comprised 25 boys, 17 girls and six teachers. Police said eight students entered the sea and were swept away after misjudging the depth and current of the water. Rescue teams reached the spot after receiving the information and recovered the bodies.
