PM Modi Pulls Up States, Ministries: Fix Accountability, End Delays in Welfare and Infrastructure Delivery PM Reviews Rs 16,000 Crore Projects, Warns Against Land Acquisition Delays PM Modi Sets Aug 2027 Deadline for Ahmedabad Station Redevelopment, Orders Monthly Review by Chief Secys Governance Must Focus More on Outcomes Than Outlays: PM Tells Chief Secretaries In his characteristic no-nonsense style, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday admonished ministries and state governments to fix accountability and remove bottlenecks to ensure timely delivery of welfare benefits and completion of infrastructure projects. Chairing the 54th PRAGATI meeting at Seva Teerth, the Prime Minister reviewed key infrastructure projects worth over Rs 16,000 crore spanning Railways, PM Ekta Malls and Bulk Drug Parks across 31 states and UTs. Expressing grave concern over delays in land acquisition and the slow pace of Ahmedabad railway station redevelopment, he directed agencies to complete the project by August 2027 at any cost. The Prime Minister called for tighter monitoring of welfare schemes and infrastructure projects, instructing Chief Secretaries to review implementation with District Magistrates every month. He also stressed the need to strengthen local accountability under the Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programmes to accelerate development in underserved areas. PRAGATI, the ICT-enabled multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, brings the Centre and States together to resolve implementation hurdles. According to the PMO, PM Modi emphasised that governance must shift its focus from outlays to outcomes, ensuring public expenditure translates into tangible improvements in people’s lives. He also highlighted the role of PM Ekta Malls in providing markets for local products, boosting artisan livelihoods and linking them with tourism and local businesses.
