Under various phases of the scheme, the state has so far received approval for a total of 9,722 roads (48,594 km) and 669 bridges. Out of these, 8,753 roads (43,380 km) and 470 bridges have already been successfully completed. Union Minister for Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, informed Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai through a formal letter that 774 new roads, with a combined length of 2,426.875 km, have been approved for Chhattisgarh under PMGSY-IV. This approval paves the way for extending all-season road facilities to the state’s remote and underserved settlements. The Ministry of Rural Development stated that all-weather connectivity will significantly improve access to markets, healthcare, education, nutrition, disaster management, and daily travel. This will accelerate socio-economic development, strengthen rural livelihoods, and ensure easier access to essential public welfare services. Union Rural Development Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan praised Chhattisgarh for its achievements and said that the state has consistently delivered outstanding performance in implementing PMGSY. He congratulated the people of Chhattisgarh, the PMGSY team, engineers, and field staff for this accomplishment. He also assured that the Central Government will continue its efforts to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach the intended beneficiaries and that rural development in Chhattisgarh continues to accelerate.
