The high-powered selection committee will meet at 7 pm today to decide on the new Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation. As per the DSPE Act, the committee comprises: Prime Minister Narendra Modi – Chairperson Chief Justice of India – Member Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi – Member Shortlisted IPS officers under consideration:Parag Jain, Shatrujit Kapoor, Yogesh Gupta, G.P. Singh and Pravir Ranjan. The panel will examine the list forwarded by DoPT. Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka is also expected to be considered for an extension of tenure.
