Incidents of eggs being thrown at Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders in West Bengal are reportedly increasing. On Tuesday, Soumitra Banerjee, a youth leader considered close to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was targeted in another such incident. According to reports, police were escorting Soumitra Banerjee to the Raniganj Court when some people threw eggs at him. He was also allegedly assaulted by members of the crowd. Police later escorted him safely to the court. Meanwhile, a video of Mandira Gain has surfaced online. In the video, she is seen crying with folded hands and holding her ears while people raise slogans outside her house. She is later seen kneeling, apologising and continuing to cry. A similar incident took place on Monday involving TMC MLA and party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh. Eggs were thrown at him while he was speaking to the media outside Mamata Banerjee’s residence. Following a complaint by Ghosh, police arrested two people in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, a large crowd gathered outside the home of Mandira Gain following a dispute linked to the Dhanurhat Panchayat. Kunal Ghosh blames BJP workers TMC MLA and spokesperson Kunal Ghosh alleged that the people who targeted him were BJP supporters. He claimed he narrowly avoided an eye injury and said police officers were present at the scene but did not take action at the time.
