Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused Home Minister Amit Shah of protecting the man accused of attacking a Dalit student’s father. He questioned whether action would now be taken against the accused. Rahul also assured the student of his full support in her fight for justice. Nishu Azad, who took part in a protest at Jantar Mantar in July, had asked Rahul Gandhi for help in getting justice. Nishu alleged that the Delhi Police had failed to act against the man who attacked her father, Sanjay, leaving him with serious head injuries. Accused admits to the attack in video A video of the alleged attacker, Swatantra Bhardwaj, who describes himself as a Hindutva influencer, has surfaced on social media. In the video, he is allegedly heard claiming that he avoided jail after receiving a phone call from Delhi minister Kapil Mishra. Bhardwaj is seen talking about the attack on Nishu’s father, Sanjay. He allegedly says that Sanjay suffered a serious head injury and needed 60 stitches. In the video, Bhardwaj allegedly says, “I cracked Nishu’s father’s skull. Do you know which section applies to this crime? Section 307. He received 60 stitches. He was being taken in an ambulance in a critical condition.” He further said, “His daughter was standing outside the police station saying that if her father did not get justice, she would commit suicide. But I was not even sent to jail. The world should know this. I kept roaming outside all night.” Rahul said – Nishu, there is no need to panic Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, posted on X in Hindi: “Nishu, there is no need to panic. I am with you. It is clear that you are being targeted because you raise your voice for the rights of your community and students.” Rahul also criticised Amit Shah and the Delhi Police over the matter. He said, “On one hand, Amit Shah’s Delhi Police commits inhumane violence against students. On the other hand, the criminal who broke the head of a Dalit girl’s father is roaming free.” He asked, “Narendra Modi ji, Amit Shah ji – why are you and your party members protecting such a criminal? Will action be taken now, or will you continue to shield someone?” Rahul said, “Nishu, your fight is not alone. We will not stop until justice is served. Jai Bhim. Jai Constitution.” Nishu said – Now there is hope for justice Responding to Rahul’s post, Nishu said, “I did not expect that Rahul Gandhi ji would actually post on this matter. Now, after receiving support from a big leader like Rahul Gandhi ji, I will get justice, and Swatantra Bhardwaj will have to go to jail.” Nishu had earlier posted a video on X saying, “Now I have hope from the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, that he will definitely help us get justice. I will fight this battle, and I will win.” In her video message, Nishu said a video of Swatantra Bhardwaj was circulating in which he allegedly admits to causing the injury to her father’s head. She said a case should be registered against him under Section 307 for attempted murder. Nishu said, “When he caused the injury to my father’s head, we filed an FIR against him. But even after more than a month and a half, the police are not taking any action.” She said, “The police are doing nothing and are misleading us in the name of a medical examination. We have lost all hope. Now I have hope from Rahul Gandhi. I am confident that Rahul Gandhi will help me get justice.” Nishu said, “Such people should be in jail, especially those who do not admit their mistake and proudly tell people about their actions.” Appealing to Rahul Gandhi, she said, “Rahul Gandhi ji, I am genuinely asking for your help. Please help me get justice.” Bhardwaj named Kapil Mishra and Chirag Paswan In the video, Bhardwaj is further heard saying, “I have the blessings of Hanuman ji. Secondly, Kapil Mishra is my elder brother. People say that Kapil Mishra made a call and I was released. Chirag Paswan is also my elder brother.” After the video surfaced, Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party and CJP targeted the BJP on Thursday. All three parties questioned the BJP over the alleged video circulating on social media. PTI sought responses from Kapil Mishra, Chirag Paswan and the Delhi Police over the allegations. No response had been received from them at the time of filing the report.
