Rewa district has been shaken by a shocking revelation exposing deep corruption in the health sector. A secretly recorded video has surfaced showing the owner of Annapurna Medical Store—one of the largest pharmacies near Sanjay Gandhi Hospital—admitting to selling fake medicines. Store owner caught on camera admitting to selling fake drugs In the undercover video, the store owner openly claims that he sells counterfeit medicines and accuses doctors at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital of being the “biggest corrupts.” The revelation is particularly alarming because the same medical store has supplied medicines to the hospital for several years. “When I went to the store pretending to be a patient to learn the truth, the owner’s words shocked the entire district,” said the source who recorded the footage. The store owner reportedly said, Doctors at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital are the most corrupt, and I myself sell fake medicines. I have a large stock of them in my store. This revelation comes just weeks after the tragic deaths of newborns in Chhindwara, allegedly caused by fake cough syrup, which had already shaken Madhya Pradesh’s healthcare system. ‘Doctors and pharmacies are looting patients together’ The owner further claimed that several doctors in Rewa deliberately prescribe medicines available only at select pharmacies, ensuring a profitable arrangement for both sides. He said, Doctors and medical stores are working together to loot patients. No one cares what’s right for the patient—only about profit. Public outrage and four major demands After the video surfaced, there has been widespread public anger and growing calls for action. Locals and activists have raised four key demands: Congress questions silence of the administration Reacting to the video, Congress spokesperson Vinod Sharma asked, Will the Rewa administration remain silent even now? Are patients’ lives being weighed in money? Will fake drug mafias continue murdering public health in broad daylight?
