Two-Day Conclave on Mother Tongue, Culture and Indian Values at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal

Bhopal to Host National Conclave on Mother Languages; Top Journalists, Writers and Poets to Participate

Celebrating the linguistic diversity as the soul of Indian culture, values and national unity, a two-day ‘Bharatiya Matribhasha Anushthan’ will be organised at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal on September 14 and 15, 2026.

The theme of the conclave is ‘Matribhasha, Sanskriti and Bharatiya Jeevan-Moolyon Par Samvad’. The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.

The event is being organised by Veer Bharat Nyas and Directorate of Culture, Department of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh, in collaboration with Bharat Bhavan, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Deendayal Upadhyaya, Dattopant Thengadi Research Institute and Matribhasha Manch.

Cultural Advisor to CM and Trustee Secretary of Veer Bharat Nyas, Shri Ram Tiwari said that Indian languages are not just a medium of communication but carriers of cultural consciousness, folk memory and life philosophy.

Day 1 Schedule – September 14:

The inaugural ceremony will be held at 4:00 PM. This will be followed by:

Session 1 (4:30 – 5:30 PM): Lecture on _‘From Matribhasha to Rashtrabhasha: The Soul of India in Languages’_. Speakers include Shri Snehashish Sur (Bengali), Shri Shyamlal Yadav (Hindi) and Shri Asim Mohiuddin (Kashmiri).

Session 2 (6:00 – 7:30 PM): Discussion on _‘Linguistic Journalism, Voice of Society’_ with Shri Jaydeep Karnik, Shri Atul Tare and Shri Ajay Umat.

– A ‘Poorvarang’ presentation of folk songs in Indian languages and dialects by Shri Umesh Tarkaswar and group at 4:00 PM.

National Kavi Sammelan at 7:30 PM featuring Dr. Kirti Kale, Shri Swayam Srivastava, Shri Dinesh Diggaj, Shri Shailendra Madhur and Shri Azhar Iqbal.

Day 2 Schedule – September 15:

Session 1 (4:00 – 5:30 PM): On _‘Mother Tongues in Digital Age: Challenges, Possibilities and New Journalism’_ with Shri Abdul Wadood Sajid (Urdu), Shri Kiran Shelar (Marathi) and Shri Samudragupta Kashyap (Assamese).

Session 2 (5:30 – 7:00 PM): On _‘Bhasha Anek, Bharat Ek’_ with Shri Manoj K. Das (Malayalam), Shri Satish K. Singh and other journalists.

Sant Raag at 7:30 PM: Rendition of Sant poets by Ms. Sudha Raghuraman, New Delhi.

An exhibition on Shabda-Chitra and Indian languages will be a major attraction. Several books including ‘Aarsh Bharat Khand-2: Lokottar Charitra of Bharatiya Chetna’, books on Maharishi Panini, Bhojdev, Maharishi Patanjali, Bhartrihari, Samrat Rajendra Chola and scriptures like ‘Yug-Yugeen Jal’, ‘Ud Chal Apne Desh’, Ashtavakra Gita, Narad Gita, Garbha Gita, Brahman Gita, Uttar Gita, Paramhansa Gita, Vritra Gita, Hansa Gita, Chandra Gita and Janaki Gita will also be released informed Shri Ram Tiwari the Trustee Secretary, Veer Bharat Nyas Dept. of Culture, Govt. of MP
