Bhind police are under scrutiny after five men alleged that they were severely beaten while in custody. The incident came to light when the accused were presented before the court on Saturday, with their condition so poor that the judge rejected the medical report submitted by the police and directed a re-examination by a panel of doctors. The court also granted immediate bail to all five men. The case originates from the Phoop police station area. On Friday evening, Vivek Sharma, a resident of Sainik Colony, was standing near a vegetable cart when Chhotu Jatav, riding a bike, collided with him. Both fell, and Vivek and his family allegedly assaulted Chhotu. The dispute escalated, causing a traffic jam on the road. Police officer Rahul Rajawat, in plain clothes, arrived at the scene to mediate. During the intervention, Vivek’s family reportedly argued with the officer. When Deepak Parmar attempted to record the incident on his mobile, Vivek’s side allegedly snatched the phone. Cross FIRs were registered after the mediation. Police allegedly take accused from home Later that night, police reportedly visited Vivek’s home and took several family members to the station. Women and children were later released, but Vivek Sharma, Pramod Sharma, Abhishek Sharma, Deepak Sharma, and Suresh Sharma were kept in the lockup overnight. It is alleged that all five were beaten severely, causing serious injuries to Pramod and Deepak. During the court hearing on Saturday, Pramod and Deepak were unable to walk, and Pramod told the judge that he had been beaten with sticks and batons in custody. The medical report recorded 11 serious injuries on Pramod’s body. In light of this, the judge invalidated the police-conducted medical report and ordered a fresh examination by a panel board. While leaving the court, Pramod collapsed on the road, saying, “I can’t walk now, my ribs are broken.” Reactions Vivek’s lawyer, Himanshu Sharma, said, “The police have acted brutally against our clients. The 11 injuries on Pramod’s body are evidence of assault. The police acted with clear bias, making the case appear one-sided.” Phoop police station in-charge Satyendra Rajput denied the allegations. “This was a simple accident escalated by Vivek and his family. They assaulted Chhotu and snatched the mobile of the youth recording the incident. The accused are acting; no one was beaten by the police,” he said. SDOP Ravindra Vaskale assured, “The court has ordered a medical examination by a panel board, and the report will be submitted to the court. If anyone files a complaint of misconduct or assault, an impartial investigation will be conducted.”
