₹7.38 crore returned to 4,601 investors of a chit fund company

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today described the “Developed India – Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural)” (JIRAMJI) as a revolutionary initiative for employment and livelihood generation in rural areas. He was addressing a meeting of the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Development Authority held in Durg.

The Chief Minister said that this scheme, launched by the Government of India, is a new rural employment programme aimed at strengthening employment and livelihood opportunities in villages. The scheme has been introduced in place of MGNREGA and includes several new provisions.

Under this scheme, rural families will be provided 125 days of employment in a year, compared to the earlier 100 days. If work is not provided, an unemployment allowance will be paid. Wages will be paid within one week. If wages are not paid within 15 days, interest at the rate of 0.05 percent will be payable. Gram Panchayats have been entrusted with the responsibility of planning and implementing the scheme.

For the year 2026–27, the Government of India has made a budgetary provision of ₹95,692.31 crore for this scheme. Previously, a budget of ₹88,000 crore was allocated for MGNREGA. Emphasizing effective implementation of the scheme in the state, the Chief Minister said that it would provide large-scale employment and livelihood opportunities to the needy within their own villages, thereby strengthening the rural economy.

On this occasion, in the presence of the Chief Minister, Memorandums of Understanding were signed between 40 IT companies and IT directors. The Chief Minister also distributed cheques to investors of Yes Chit Fund Company, returning the amount they had invested. Under this initiative, cheques amounting to ₹7,38,24,100 were provided to a total of 4,601 investors.
