A US delegation will visit India from June 1-4 for a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA). The discussions will likely aim to secure an interim deal between the two sides. India and the US push forward trade negotiations On 7 February 2026, India and the US issued a joint statement, agreeing to a framework for an interim deal based on “mutually beneficial” terms. Both sides also affirmed to continue talks to secure a broader bilateral trade agreement. Following this, an Indian delegation visited Washington from April 20-23 for discussions with US officials. US delegation to visit India The upcoming visit by the US team will be led by the Chief Negotiator and is expected to carry forward the ongoing discussions between both sides. A government official said: “To carry forward the discussions, the US team led by the Chief Negotiator will be visiting India from June 1-4, 2026. It is proposed to finalise the details of the interim agreement and take forward the negotiations under the broader BTA on multiple areas such as market access, non-tariff measures, customs and trade facilitation, investment promotion, economic security alignment.” Key areas of discussion During the four-day meeting in Delhi, both countries are expected to discuss several important trade-related issues, including: Focus on a stronger economic partnership The continued negotiations highlight the growing economic partnership between India and the United States.
